Ethiopian Troops Erect New Base at Yaqbariweyne Location in Lower Shabelle Region

Yaqbareweyne,(insidesomalia.org)- Fully armed Ethiopian soldiers have this morning established a new military base at Yaqbariweyne location in the lower Shabelle region in southern Somalia.

These troops come all the way from Baidoa town some 245km from the capital Mogadishu.

This site where the Ethiopian soldiers established their new base is where they have been ambushed three times and as well come under several explosions by forces from the Islamic Courts Union.

The inhabitants in the vicinity where the Ethiopians soldiers have established their new base are animal keepers and farmers, and they have gradually started to shift from their location to another new site fearing that confrontation which they would be the victims may occur between the Ethiopian soldiers in the area and their archrivals that are against their presence in Somalia.

There is no guarantee whether the Ethiopian troops would remain in the area or move to another zone.

On the other hand the security of the road that links Wanlaweyn to Afgoi has these days gone to zero level, because several vehicles using that road had come under attacks from bandits who robbed the entire properties from the passengers traveling on the road.

The security forces from the lower Shabelle region had vacated several checkpoints along the road between Wanlaweyn and Afgoi due to less armaments and luck of wages.

There are no comments from the responsibles from the region regarding about how to curb these bandits robbing the travelers traveling between Wanlaweyn and Afgoi district.
